40x40m split in half in front of big goal.
Mini goals placed in the outside corners opposite the big goal.
2 groups split evenly – group A works in left lane, group B works in right lane.
- 1v1.
- DF (Red) plays ball out from goal line to AT (Blue) on opposite end to begin play.
- AT scores in big goal.
- AT must engage the DF before attempting to score, no long shots.
- DF defends big goal and attempts to win the ball.
- If DF wins the ball, score in mini goal.
PROGRESSION:
P1 – AT must be in AT half to score.
P2 – 2v2.
REGRESSION:
R1 – DF can only start defending at halfway.
R2 – Mark out a narrow zone across the center of the field where DF must stay inside.
OBJECTIVE:
Offsetting a defender in front of goal; moving a defender to create a scoring opportunity.
COACHING POINTS:
Quality first touch.
Attack defender or space with pace.Decision on type of move/feint.
Timing of move/feint.
Execution of the move/feint – was the player successful in off-setting the defender to create a scoring opportunity?
