Passing in three Boxes with Position Change Variation I

  • Process

    The players play in pairs:

    (A+A) = red team (B+B) = yellow team

    (C+C) = blue team (D+D) = grey team.

    The two pairs in possession must play at least three passes before they are allowed to pass the ball to the players in zone 3.

    The third pair tries to intercept the ball through clever pressing and energetic tackling. If they manage this, then they swap positions with the pair which lost the ball.

    After the third successful uninterupted pass, if possible, the pair should pass the ball into the other zone to D+D. The pair which played the pass sprints, closely followed by the defensive pair, after the ball and continues the drill in the other zone.

    The defenders remain in their positions until they have intercepted the ball or for a maximum of 2 minutes.

    Alternative:

    - no restrictions on touches

    - Restricted touches (e.g. 1-3 touches)

  • Tip

    - 8 cones.

    - This drill is very tiring and requires a great deal of player intelligence.

    - Good touch and combination soccer is required.

    - The standing leg is often too far away from the ball and/or the player leans back.

    - Demand good strength of pass and pass precision.

    - Pass precision is more important than pass speed.

    - Concentratuion must be held at all times.

    - Anticipation, awareness, reaction, speed of thought and movement with and without the ball are continuously required.

    - The aims of this drill are switching from offense to defense, crossing the middle zone quickly and the setting up of new passing situations.

    The outer zones are 10 x 10. The distance between the cones in the inner zone is 15m horizontally and 10m vertically.

Trapping, Ballskill (Touch on the ball), Ball control, Passing, Dribbling, Running technique with/without ball, Feinting/trick dribbling

Shot technique/shooting [Laces, Outside of the foot, Inside of the foot]
