Passing with Goal Attempt Variation III

  • Organisation

Three cones are laid out as shown. Two or more players stand at the start cones. 2 players stand at the middle cones. One player stands at the cones nearest the goalkeeper. One goalkeeper in goal.
  • Process

The left and right groups take turns to complete the practised pass and move combinations I & II with a resulting shot at goal. The player who starts decides which variation will be played. Variation I: A (1) passes to C, B moves two to three metres to the side to be able to pass the ball from C to D with one touch. D attempts to score. A runs to the middle cone and B takes up the positon form D. C stays at the middle cone. D joins the start cone etc. Variation II: Z passes (1) to X whose first movement is towards player Z. X (2) then lays the ball into space for Z and then moves after passing the ball. Z passes (3) to Y with his first touch, Y then passes with his first touch in space (4) to X. X passes to W (5). Player W tries to score. Z joins the middle cone after his pass. Y stays where he is. X joins the last cone with W after his three runs. W joins the start cone etc. Alternative: - Goal scoring competition. Both teams count their goals scored. - A second goal can be introduced.
  • Tip

6 cones, 1 full-court goal(s), The focus is on a variation of fast passing combinations through the middle. - Good technique, touch and passing is important. - The strength and precision of the pass. - Precision is more imporatant than speed. - Communication is continuously important. - Anticipation, awareness, reaction, speed of movement with and without the ball are regularly tested. - Practise of rehearsed phases of play, short passing and varaible combination football. - Goal scoring.
