Winger Walk the Goal Line

  • Organisation

    Cone gate set on sideline near 18yd line extended. Single Defender on Goal line, 12 yd from near goal post. Single cone 12 yd from Goal line - in line with single defender. 2 Strikers start in D of penalty area Supply of balls set at the sideline gate. Goalkeeper is live

  • Process

    Once Wide attacker goes through the gate, he attempts to gain the goal line on the dribble. The defender sprints to and touches the single cone with his hand and turns to defend the wide attacker. Strikers attempt to get on the end of the service from the wide player.

  • Tip

    If Wide attacker can beat the defender back to the goal line, he should continue to walk the goal line until closed down by goalkeeper. Then slip a pass to a striker for open goal finish. If GK does not close down, he should finish himself.. If he can't beat defender to line, he should provide early service to strikers. Goalkeeper must decide to defend 1st, 2nd, or 3rd goals.

    Width of full field and appx 20 yards of length.
