Passing in a Box with Combinations Variation I

  • Organisation

6 cones are laid out as shown, i.e. 4 cones make up the outer box in which 2 further cones are placed. One player per cone. The start cone must have 2 players.
  • Process

The drill starts at the cone with 2 players. The first pass is in the middle, where the ball is laid off (2). Then the ball is passed cross-field (3). After that the player passes a square ball (4). The same sequence now takes place in the opposite direction (5-8). The 4 outer players follow their passes. The two players in the middle move diagonally after their pass to the outer cone (red dotted line).
  • Tip

    - This drill is very tiring and requires a great deal of player intelligence. - The standing leg is often too far away from the ball and/or the player leans back. - Timing of the pass is important. - Don't forget the runs. - Demand good strength of pass and pass precision. - Pass precision is more important than pass speed. - Concentratuion must be held at all times. - Anticipation, awareness, reaction, speed of thought and movement with and without the ball are continuously required.
  • Field size

    15 x 15m
  • Cone margins

The two outer cones are 15 meters apart. The third cone is central at a distance of 7.5m from the outer cones and set off at a distance of 6m.
