Shots + throws from opposite corners

  • Organisation

    : the goalkeeper stands in the goal. A goalkeeper trainer positions himself in a 10 meter range to the side of the goal, the others stand 11 meters from the goal. The goalkeeper trainer has the soccer balls.
  • Process

    The goalkeeper coach begins with a shot at an acute angle in the near (goalkeeper) corner. Straight away the trainer, or alternatively a player, throws the second ball into the opposite corner. The goalkeeper must first save the shot and then save the ball which is thrown into the long corner. Resources: 1 field-goal
  • Tip

    The shots should vary in shot strength (easy/hard) and in height/alignment (flat, mid-height, and high, on the chest) - The range of the shots on goal should not add up to more than 10m. - The goalkeeper must ideally reduce the marginal angle through his positional play. In addition he stays 1-2m in front of the goal line and keeps approximately an arm’s length away from the goalpost nearest the ball. - The goalkeeper tries to securely catch the ball. - If the ball is shot too hard or too much in the corner, it must be parried to the side. -Just before the shot the goalkeeper does a small jump with either legs or does a small step forwards, with his arms out to the sides, bends his legs and stands on the balls of his feet. - His feet face in the direction of the shooter and are roughly shoulder-width apart. The upper body is leaning slightly forward and eyes are fixed on the ball. - When saving the ball the goalkeeper must not dive backwards or leave the goal open by diving early. - After the move into the short corner he must try to get to the other corner of the goal as quickly as possible while looking at the goalkeeper coach. - The ball should be thrown in such a way that the goalkeeper has to jump when running backwards or so that he has to dive sideways into the corner - The task can be conducted by both teams
