Four players (blue A and B defenders/ red C and D attackers) are positioned on the field according to the diagram. The ball is with player C.
Process
When completing the drill: The exercise starts with a pass from player C to player D, who immediately starts to dribble forward. Simultaneously player B breaks away from his defensive position and attacks player D. A moves into the defensive position of B. Directly after his pass to D, C overlaps D. As soon as he is in line with the player, C plays the ball into his path. Now B assigns himself the ball carrying player D and A moves further sideways and considerably backwards so that he can intervene at any time. The defenders don't participate in the attackers' change of positions, but exclusively hand over one player to the other. The exercise ends as soon as the defenders are outplayed.
Tip
1 full-court goal(s), One goal.
Tips: At the start the striker should only run at a moderate pace towards the defenders, in order to give them the greatest chance possible to synchronize their runs.
- The tempo should be increased little by little. - The lateral distance between the players at the start should be approximately 7-12m. - The players stand opposite each other approximately 15m apart. - Defender A stands approximately 5m off-centre behind player B. - C overlaps D as soon as the ball leaves his foot. - Pay attention to a precise and powerful passing game.
