2v2 + NP to dribble gates

    OBJECTIVE:

    Improve individual DF

    Introduction to 2nd Defender 

    SET UP:

    25m x 20m

    2 x 5m dribble gates on each side

    Players separated into two teams 

  • Process

    PROCEDURE:

    • Team in possession tries to dribble through gates to score
    • Players can utilize either bumper player to help retain possession and score
    • DF team tries to regain ball and score on opposite dribble gates
    • 1-minute rounds then change players
    • Team keeps possession if they score point (emphasizes good defensive play to gain possession)

     PLAYER TASKS:

    • Can DF anticipate and recognize their opportunity to intercept pass?
    • Can DF recognize when to protect goal vs when to regain ball?
    • Can 2ndDefender take good covering position
