"attacking team" will be comprised of 7, 9, or 11 players. "pressing team" will be comprised of 4,5, or 6 players. exercise is best used with 2 GKs, but can also be done with small goals.
objective for the attacking team is to possess for the ball for 10 consecutive passes. 2-touch restriction. objective for the pressing team is to recover the ball and look to score in either goal. no touch restriction.
the ball for the attacking team always begins with the GK (or from the endline). the ball for the pressing team comes from the coach.
attacking team's emphasis is on speed of play and movement without the ball. pressing action once the ball is turned over is vital. transition into attacking shape once the ball is recovered.
pressing team must work to condense space and force the turnover. must be "disuptive" to the attacking team's rhythm. once the ball is recovered quickly look for avenues to score at either goal. important to keep space "alive" as both goals are in play.
