Set up a cone box as shown. Each cone should be occupied by a player. Three further players should be positioned as follows: Two players to the side of the 18 yard box, one player to the side of the goal on the goal line.
(1) Goal attempt
(2) Cross paths
Process
The drill starts with a one-two between player A and player D. A passes the laid-off ball diagonally to C who lays the ball off to D. D passes diagonally to B and at the same time C sprints to the right hand corner of the 18 yard box where he receives a pass from B and takes a shot at goal. Immediately after the goal attemt, B sprints into the box and crosses positions with C who has positioned himself ready for the next move and then they either finishe a:
a) cross from G
b) cross from E
or
c) a backpass from F.
Every player then moves on one position.
Tip
4 cones, - The player waiting for the ball should always make a short, quick dummy run away from the ball before receiving it.
- The passes should be played hard along the ground
- The player should lift his foot slightly when laying the ball off
- Timing is important when making runs in the box
- The corses and backpasses should be hit hard
