8 vs. 4

  • Organisation

    • Mark a 25 meter wide playing field between the 18-yard box and the halfway line and arrange the mini-goals in the field according to the graphic
    • 4 cones (to mark the playing field)
    • 4 mini-goals
    • Divide the players into two teams: Team 1 with 8 players and team 2 with 4 players
    • Team 1 (8 players) will play in a 3-2-3 formation
  • Process

    • The two teams play against each other in an 8v4
    • Goal of Team Red: Maintain possession and play through the opposition from end line to end line (within the field)
    • Goal of Team Blue: Apply systematic pressure to provoke turnovers and counter fast after winning the ball. If Blue wins the ball, they can counter on the four mini-goals.
    • At that point, the Red team has to counterpress immediately to win the ball back and prevent team Blue from scoring
  • Tip

    Coaching Points:

    • Use full length and width of the field (Team Red)

    • Red (3-2-3): Communicate with the two central players ("turn", "back", "left shoulder")

    • Try to play with two touches (max. 3 touches)

    • Play out of pressure

    • Movement off the ball: Create passing angles by constantly moving in the opponent's shadow

  • Field size

Between 18-yard box and halfway line (25m wide)
