Check & receive

  • Organisation

10x5m boxes marked with cones.  1 player at end end of the box & another in the middle.  1 ball per group.  Server (near end) starts with the ball, 3rd player (far end) with a cone behind their back.

  • Process

Server exchanges passes with the middle player.  Each time the middle player must check over their shoulder (before receiving) to see where the far player wants them to play.  If the far player is holding the cone out to the right, then the middle player must control the pass, dribble out to the right, back into the middle, & play back to the server.  If the far player is holding the cone to the left, then the middle player must dribble the ball left, back to the middle, and pass back to the server.  If the far player is not holding any cone out then middle player just passes back to server.  If far player is holding the cone straight up, then middle player turns, plays a 1-2 with the far player, and then passes back to the server.

    Rotate players every minute.

  • Tip

Middle player must continually be checking over their shoulder for the next instruction - have to be look & be aware.

Important to have good control receiving & close control dribbling.
