Side Shots - Cut Back Saves - Crosses

  • Organisation

One goalkeeper in the goal. One player on the side of the box, with one ball in his hands and one on foot. One more outside of the box, with a ball.

  • Process

1)The coach gives the acoustic cue (either Red or Blue)/The goalkeeper runs to take position between the post and the red or blue marker cone.

    2)Player makes the shot / Goalkeeper Saves-Blocks.

    3) The goalkeeper returns to the red or blue marker cone in the goal, using side or cross steps.

    4) The player outside of the box shoots in his right or left side / Goalkeeper must take a contralateral step and save

    5) The player on the side makes a cross with his hands/ Goalkeeper must quickly recover and block the ball high

  • Tip

This drill can become more demanding by adding mannequins, reducing the visibility of the goalkeeper and decrease reaction time. We can also add a second goalkeeper in goal who executes the same drill from the other side
