2v1 on the Wing + Finishing

  • Organisation

    • 4 cones

    • bibs (one for the defender)

Use the four cones to mark a square (4m x 4m) for the defender on the edge of the penalty box.

  • Process

The first player takes 2-3 touches forward and then passes the ball into the winger.

With that pass, the first player starts an overlapping run in behind the winger.

The winger takes his first touch to the center of the field and dribbles towards the defender.

When he is within 2-3 meters of the defender, he plays the ball out wide to the overlapping defender.

The player that made the overlapping run than accelerates towards the penalty area and either shoots or plays the ball into the approaching striker.

  • Tip

    Coaching Points:

    • Start drill with passive defender that becomes more and more active

    • Dribbling and overlapping runs should be at a high tempo
