3 Station Drill: Coordinative Focus + Finishing

  • Process

    • Three different stations are completed by small groups (3 players each):
    • Shooting from the edge of the penalty box
    • Blue cones mark the "waiting point" for the next player (at least 2 meter distance)
    • Set up a zone for the coach, to keep the distance to him when shooting on goal

    Station 1:

    Dribble through the cone course:

    (Execution: only right, only left, alternating left/ right, inside/ outside of the foot, sool. Finish with the right foot.

    Station 2:

    Different drills within the coordination ladder:

    • 2 contacts inside, 1 contact outside; 2 contacts inside, 3 contacts outside; 1 contact inside, 2 contacts outside; 3 contacts inside, 1 contacts outside (stay on one side)
    • Variations are possible and can be adapted to quality of players
    • Finally, play a one-two with the coach and shoot on goal

    Station 3:

    Speed dribbling towards the cones. Use a body feint to cut the cone on the inside, dribble past it and finish with the left foot.

  • Tip

    Coaching Points:

    • Tight ball control

    • Pick your head up before shooting on goal

    • Make the drill a competition; the team to score more goals in a certain time wins
