3v1 Combination Play

  • Organisation

    • 6 cones

    • 3 bibs

  • Process

    • The goal of the drill is to eventually play the ball to the number 10, so that he can take on number 5 in a 1v1 situation.
    • One side starts the drill. If number 10 received the ball, the other side starts the drill.
    • The first pass always goes to the number 6, who can then either play with the number 2 or directly pass the ball to the number 10.
    • Number 8 tries to prevent that. If number 8 wins the ball, numbers 2,4, and 6 immediately counterpress.
    • If number 10 receives the ball, he tries to dribble past number 5's dribbling line.
    • After the 1v1, number 10 passes the ball back to number 8 and number 8 passes it furher back to number 4, who then starts the next round.
  • Tip

    Coaching Points:

    • Number 6: If number 8 immediately applies pressure on the back, pass the ball to number 2 with the left foot
    • Number 6: If possible, take first touch to open up and the second touch to directly pass the ball into number 10
    • Number 4: Help number 6 by telling him/her his next move. For example: If number 8 does not apply a lot of pressure, tell 6 to "turn" quickly.
