3 vs. 1 Combination

  • Organisation

    • 6 cones
    • 3 bibs
  • Process

    • The objective of the exercise is to play the ball to the number 10, allowing them to engage in a 1 vs. 1 with number 5.
    • The first pass always goes to number 6, who can either combine with number 2 or turn directly and play to number 10.
    • Number 8 tries to prevent this. If number 8 wins the ball, numbers 2, 4, and 6 must immediately apply pressure to the opponent.
    • If number 10 is successfully played, they go into a 1 vs. 1 with number 5 and try to dribble over their line.
    • After the 1 vs. 1, the other side starts the drill.
    • After the 1 vs. 1, number 10 plays the ball to number 8, who plays back to number 4, who then starts the new action.
  • Tip

    Coaching Points

    • Number 6: If there's immediate pressure from an opponent behind, play the ball with the foot farthest from the opponent to number 2.
    • Number 2: If possible, quickly process the ball with the foot open to play and play to number 10 with the 2nd touch.
    • Number 4: Communicates with player number 6 with the foot played to and/or command for the next action: Pass to the foot open to play: "turn", Pass to the foot farthest from the opponent: "layoff".
