Basic Defensive 1v1 Drill

  • Organisation

    • Divide training group into pairs of players
    • Divide player pairs into attackers and defenders
    • All attackers start with a ball
  • Process

    • ttackers position themselves at the halfway line with their balls. Defenders stand facing the attackers at a distance of 3-4m.
    • Upon the coach's signal, the attacker dribbles towards the penalty area. The defender takes a side position and backs off, attempting not to actively win the ball, and the attacker avoids breaking through. When the two players reach the penalty area, they switch roles.

    Variation

    • Basic defensive 1v1
    • Upon the coach's signal, the defender is allowed to actively win the ball, and the attacker tries to break through.
  • Tip

    • Coaching Points
      • Offer the opponent one side (weak foot or dribble path to the outside)
      • Keep the center of gravity low
      • Retreat and maintain distance
