Crossing Over the Goal

  • Organisation

    • 16 cones to mark 4 zones
    • 2 youth goals
  • Process

    • Position players in their respective zones. Players then alternate playing crosses over the goals into the designated zones.
    • Conduct the exercise as a competition: Which players can successfully play more balls over the goal into the target area (optionally using their weaker foot as well).
  • Tip

    Coaching Points 

    • Play the ball on the move.
    • Use the inside of the foot for crosses.
    • Place the standing leg to the side behind the ball.
    • Ball control:
      • Prevent the ball from bouncing.
      • Quickly bring the ball down to the ground.
      • Yield at the moment of ball contact.
