Deep Passing Play in 2 Variations

  • Organisation

    • Assign 4 players 4 poles each, spaced 15 meters apart in depth
    • 1 ball per group
  • Process

    Variation 1: A initiates the drill with a diagonal pass to B, who detaches from the pole shortly before, takes the pass forward from a side position, and passes it on to C. C, in turn, offers himself in an open stance diagonally and directs the pass to D. D continues the process in the opposite direction. After a few minutes, switch positions.

    Variation 2: A bypasses B with a long pass to C, who lets it bounce back diagonally backward. B, having moved diagonally backward earlier, now follows up the pass from A to C and redirects the back pass to D. D controls the pass and then initiates the next action.

  • Tip

    Coaching Points

    • Variation 1: Play the ball to the forefoot, take the ball with the forefoot, and pass it
    • Variation 2: Let the ball bounce off the "farthest foot" from the opponent, B moves towards the ball as soon as it is bypassed (after moving slightly backward initially)
