Short Passing Diamond Drill

  • Organisation

    • Use 6 cones to mark positions
  • Process

      • A passes to B. B turns and passes the ball to C, who receives the ball in an open stance and passes to D. D then passes to E, who turns and passes to F. F receives the ball in an open stance and passes it back to the starting position of A. After a few repetitions, the drill can be conducted with 2 balls. Players A and D start with a ball.
    • Variations:
      • A passes to B. B lets the ball bounce to A, who then plays the ball to C. Player C receives the ball in an open stance and passes to D.
      • A passes to B. B lets the ball bounce to A, who then plays the ball to C. C executes a one-two pass with B and then passes the ball to D.
  • Tip

    • Coaching Points:
      • Players A and D: Set off before receiving the ball
      • Player B: Turn with the far foot from the opponent; play the ball to player C in the front foot
      • Player C: Set sideways in an open stance and take the ball with pace
