Variant 1: A passes to B, B lays off to C and moves into the space behind. While A makes the initial pass, D can already start running towards the goal line, as he will receive a driven pass from C into the gap. At the goal line, D lays the ball off to B, who is waiting in the space behind and takes the shot.
Variant 2: A passes to B, B lays off to C and moves into the space behind. While A makes the initial pass, D can already make a run through the gap between the full-back and the center-back. He will receive a driven pass into space from player C. D takes a shot on goal. If there's a rebound, B can capitalize on it.
Tip
Coaching Points:
Player D: Watch for offside, be level with the opposing defensive line when receiving the pass, and start the run into space at full speed (find the right timing for the run).
Player B: Allow the ball to bounce off with the foot away from the defender.
Player C: Play the ball with enough pace into the space.
