Game Shift - Possession Game

  • Organisation

    • 4 red cones
    • 4 blue cones
    • Set up one large and one small square (see image)
  • Process

    • 4 blue players stand outside the outer square, 2 blue players inside the inner square, and 3 yellow players freely in the field.
    • The blue players play for possession, attempting to pass the ball to the players inside the inner square. If there's no passing option inside (due to opponent pressure), they should orient themselves to the free side, as there will always be free players available.
    • The yellow players are not allowed inside the inner blue square. The blue outer players act with a maximum of two touches (preferably with one touch). The player receiving the pass inside stands deep and lets it bounce to the second inner player (depth layering), who then shifts the game to another side.
  • Tip

    Coaching Points:

    • Always be in motion and try to find possible passing lanes.
    • Move out of the coverage shadow.
  • Field size

    • 25m x 25m outside
    • 7m x 7m inside
