Passing Drill with Cone Goals

  • Organisation

    • Divide into pairs
    • 4 cones per pair
  • Process

    Variant 1:

    • Players stand about 1 meter behind their cone goal.
    • Player 1 starts with a pass through both cone goals.
    • Player 2 positions the ball with the first touch outside right or left of their cone goal and passes back through the opposing cone goal with the second touch.
    • If the cone goal is missed, the receiving player must position the ball with the first touch back inside and pass through both cone goals with the second touch.

    Variant 2:

    • Players stand sideways about 1 meter behind their cone goals on the same side.
    • Player 1 passes parallel to the cone goals to their teammate.
    • This player takes the ball with the inner foot (closer to the cone goal) across to the other side of the cone goal and plays a pass back to the starting player.
  • Tip

    Coaching Points in Bullet Points

    • Demand and immediately correct two-footed actions if more than two touches are required.
    • After a certain period, reverse the direction of play to train both feet.

    • Distance between goals: depending on performance level, 5-10 meters
