Pass + Long Ball Behind the Defense

  • Organisation

    • 4 large red cones
    • 4 large yellow cones
    • 3 small red cones
    • 3 small yellow cones
    • 1 goal
    • Double setup for right and left. Use 5 large cones to mark a line (approximately 22m from the goal line). Place 2 starting cones of the same color about 2m from the center line. Position 1 small cone of the other color in front of the imaginary back four.
  • Process

Midfield player A passes to B. B lets it bounce back, and A then delivers a long ball to C, who has started his run but is still positioned in front of the back four (cones line). C takes the ball and either plays a 90-degree pass back into the open space or delivers a cross in front of the goal. A makes a short run, and B makes a long run into the box.

  • Tip

    Coaching Points

    • C: Watch for timing and offside. Start the run into depth with speed.
    • A: Watch C's movement. Play the ball just before player C reaches the cones line.
    • A and B: Move away from the ball and run into the penalty area with the cross. Cover the 1st & 2nd posts.
  • Field size

    Half of the field
