Timing and Speed of Action

  • Organisation

    • 2 Mini goals
    • Cones to mark the halfway line and penalty area boundary
    • Divide the defending players into 2 groups, positioned in 2 colors next to the mini goal
    • Divide the attacking players into 2 groups (label them "1" and "2") and position them next to the 2nd mini goal
  • Process

    • The 2 attacking players from midfield start with the aim of scoring on the mini goal at the penalty area line.
    • Upon the coach's command, a defender ("Yellow" or "Red") starts. Depending on the age group, play may or may not include offside.
    • If the defender wins the ball, they can immediately make a deep pass to the halfway line goal, scoring 2 points for their defending group. Attackers only score 1 point for a goal.
    • After the action, all participants return to their respective groups. The first team to score 10 goals wins, and the groups switch from attack to defense.
  • Tip

    Coaching Points:

    • Exploit numerical superiority
    • Defenders try to isolate an attacker in a 1v1 situation
    • Complete attacks quickly
    • React to the defender's action: shoot or pass
    • Pass to teammates in stride or to their leading foot
