Triangle Formation & Positional Changes

  • Organisation

    • Set up a triangle with cones or poles.
    • Player A is positioned in front of the triangle, with one additional player standing at each pole, as shown in the image.
    • Distance varies based on skill level.
  • Process

    • Player A passes the ball into different zones (directly to B / to the left of D / to the right of C).
    • For example, if A passes into the space directly in front of the central player B, B moves to the ball, and the two outer players C and D immediately cover defensively.
    • If A plays the ball into the space to the right of player C, it affects the positions of the other two players: B moves to the position of C, and D moves to the position of B.
  • Tip

Initially demand ball control upon receiving and later, depending on skill level, encourage direct play. It's also important to emphasize proper movement of players without the ball, depending on which player is receiving the pass.

  • Cone margins

The distances between the poles should be adjusted according to age. The younger the players, the closer the pole setup and the shorter the distances.
