Zonal Play with Pressing

  • Organisation

    • Cones to divide into 3 zones (2 outer zones, 1 middle zone)
    • Cones to mark a line for each team (yellow and blue cones here) representing the pressing line (in this case, midfield pressing)
  • Process

    • Team yellow plays against team blue towards 2 goals.
    • In the middle zone, the ball can only be played with 2 touches.
    • Free play in the two outer zones.
    • For the blue team, the blue-marked line is the pressing line.
    • For the yellow team, the yellow-marked line is the pressing line.
  • Tip

    Coaching Points:

    • The team in possession has time due to the "inactive" zone and can combine until gaps appear in the opponents.
    • The team applying pressing should coordinate and shift as a unit.
