10 vs 10 + Goalkeepers on a Small Field

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point

Setup

Set up a field with 2 goals as shown in the diagram. Each goal has a goalkeeper. Form two teams of 10.

Procedure

The two teams play against each other with the objective of scoring goals. The goalkeepers participate in the play and can also score goals. On a tight field, players should combine quickly and confidently with 1-3 touches.

Tip

- The focus of this game format is on ball control with the options of 'quick transitions from defence to attack.' It also trains combination play, off-the-ball movement, and pressing the team in possession. - The team without possession tries to cleverly close passing lanes and spaces while applying constant pressure on the ball carrier and nearby players. - Teams should be in constant motion. Players continuously try to make themselves available as passing options for teammates. - The team in possession should occupy the flanks, the centre, and the half-spaces. - Avoid getting stuck in a tight space. Therefore, switches of play and passes into depth, the half-space, or to the goalkeeper should be played regularly. - 6 cones, 2 full-size goal(s)
