Two teams of 12 are formed and each distributed across four fields in a 3v3 setup. They play against each other on one half of the field divided into four quadrants as shown in the diagram. One ball goes into each of two quadrants.
Procedure
The objective of the teams is to control the ball within their own ranks and regularly pass it to teammates in another quadrant. The team in possession should use triangle formations and a wide, deep passing game to prevent the other team from winning the ball. The opposing team must try to win the ball through aggressive tackling and organised pressing. Players may not leave their zone. Difficulty levels: - Free play - 3 touchesn
Tip
- Triangles must constantly be formed to create passing options. - The passing game alternates between many short passes and long passes to switch the zone. - The teams should be in constant motion. The players constantly try to make themselves available and offer passing options to their teammates. - The team without possession tries to cleverly close down passing lanes and spaces and constantly applies pressure on the ball carrier and his nearby teammates. - The team waiting for the ball must make runs to get open and signal to the team in possession by calling out that they are available. - Getting stuck in tight spaces should be avoided. Therefore, switches of play and through balls should be played regularly. - The passing options should take an open body position (with the sideline at their back) so they can always see the next passing option. - This game format requires an enormous running volume and game intelligence and is characterised by constant communication and a constant back-and-forth between the quadrants. - This game format develops short passing play, playing in tight spaces, quick switches of play, and places high demands on the players. - 9 cones
