1v1 after Long Pass on Two Goals

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point

Setup

A field is marked out with cones. A goal is set up on each end of the field, with a goalkeeper in each. 8 field players position themselves on the field as shown in the diagram at the corner cones. A cone is placed on each sideline to mark the halfway line.

Procedure

The blue player at the upper right cone plays a pass down the line to the red player and sprints directly toward him, slows down 2-4 metres before him, positions himself offset to the side, and offers one side. The red player runs onto the ball and takes it at top speed, trying to beat the defender during the acceleration. If the defender wins possession, the ball goes out of bounds, or is kicked off the field, the next pair of players starts. On the other side, the same exercise is performed in the opposite direction, i.e., the red player at the lower left cone is the passer and blue is the attacker. This way, 1v1 can be played simultaneously on both goals. After the duel, passer and attacker switch positions.

Tip

- Players should move on the balls of their feet. - The attacking player starts with the passer's backswing. - The attacker tries to use his sprint speed advantage. - The defender tries to close down the attacker as early as possible so that the attacker cannot build up speed, and if possible positions his body between himself and the attacker with the shoulder forward. - 6 cones, 2 full-size goal(s)
