1v1 after Number Call

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 10-15 players, 16-22+ players

Setup

A field is marked out with cones. A goal is set up on each end of the field, with a goalkeeper in each. 12 field players are divided into two groups and positioned along the sideline as shown in the diagram. A cone is placed on each sideline to mark the halfway line, where the passer stands with the balls.

Procedure

All players have a number. The passer/coach calls out a number (e.g., No. 1) and passes or rolls the ball into the field. The players with that number react and each tries to get to the ball first. The player who wins possession tries to score a goal. If the defending player wins the ball, he counterattacks on the other goal. If the ball goes out of bounds, the next pair of players starts. Alternative: If the goalkeeper saves the ball without holding it, he can immediately launch a quick counterattack.n

Tip

- Players should move on the balls of their feet. - Both players start after the call or with the passer's backswing. - The defender tries to close down the attacker as early as possible so that the attacker cannot build up speed, and if possible positions his body between himself and the attacker with the shoulder forward. - 6 cones, 2 full-size goal(s)
