1v1 After Opening Pass, Ball Control + Speed Dribbling

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players

Setup

Set up multiple opposing cones as shown in the diagram. The players distribute evenly across the cones. The respective starting player has a ball.

Procedure

Player A passes diagonally to C. C tries to dribble to the other side and beat A. If A wins the ball, he may dribble to the other side. After the challenge is finished, the players move to the opposite side.

Tip

- When the passer begins the passing motion, that is the start signal for the player expecting the ball. - In this drill, start timing and ball control are of utmost importance. The passing player must also continue running immediately after the pass. - Defensive challenge (winning the ball is the top priority! Do not just kick the ball away.) - Position the body so the opponent is pushed away from goal toward the outside. Close down the path to the end line. Stand sideways, offer one side; lure the opponent where you want him; then push the body in between to win the ball. - Stand on the balls of the feet, not on the whole foot. - Try to reduce the opponent's speed. (This buys time for the other defenders in a real game.) - Offensive challenge When possible, approach the opponent at maximum speed. At slower speeds, try to use a body feint. - 4 cones
