1v1 after Sprint Dribble

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point

Setup

A double 18-yard box field and a square at 18-yard-box height are marked out with cones. A goal is set up on each end of the field, with a goalkeeper in each. 8 field players are divided into four groups of 2 and positioned next to the goals as shown in the diagram. A cone is placed on each sideline to mark the halfway line. The balls are distributed among the groups.

Procedure

The red player dribbles at top speed around the farthest cone, runs through the square toward the goal to shoot. The blue player standing directly opposite on the same sideline starts sprinting as soon as the ball-carrying player reaches the cone to be dribbled around, and tries to prevent the shot on goal. Then the exercise continues clockwise, so each group alternates between offence and defence.

Tip

- The attacker tries to use his sprint speed advantage. - The defender tries to close down the attacker as early as possible so that the attacker cannot build up speed, and if possible positions his body between himself and the attacker with the shoulder forward. - 10 cones, 2 full-size goal(s)
