1v1 after Team Sprinting Competition

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19, Men's / Women's
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

• 1 goal (with goalkeeper)

• 4 cones

• 4 training poles

Procedure

On the coache's count, the first two players of each team start sprinting around the rectangle.

The player that runs in the direction of the goal tries to perform a running feint to overrun his opponent, so he can jump over the little cone goals.

If he is successful with that, he can shoot on the goal.

If the defender wins the race, he gets to shoot on the goal.

The coach will provide the balls and place them on the edge of the penalty box for the players to then shoot from there.

Variation:

The first part of the drill remains the same.

Now, however, the coach plays a sharp, low-driven ball to the player that sprints around the outer line (so further away from the goal).

That player then tries to beat the defender in a 1v1 situation.

The winner of this sequence is allowed to shoot on the goal.

Tip

Coaching Points:

• Perform efficient turns at the poles

• Overrun the defender with running feints
