1v1 COD/Dribbling (COE)

Setup

12m x15m Grid

With 2 cones goals about 4-5m wide

Markers, bibs, balls

Procedure

- 1v1.

- AT (Blue) hang a bib on the side of their shorts, long enough so it can be pulled.

- AT score by running through one the 2 gates in front.

- DF (Red) try to pull the bib without fouling the AT before he/she runs through a gate.

PROGRESSION: 

P1 – Ball at feet:

- AT (dribbles out to initiate play and scores by dribbling through one of the 2 gates.

- If DF wins the ball, scores by dribbling through either gate.

P2 – AT have 5sec to score.

P3 – Receive a pass:

- DF or Coach Plays ball into AT in initiate play.

- AT scores by dribbling through one of the 2 gates.

- If DF wins the ball, scores by dribbling through either gate.

- Allow multiple repetitions before switching the roles of the player who receives the ball.

REGRESSION: 

R1 – Ball at feet:

- DF protect the goal by closing the gate.A gate is closed if DF beats the AT to the gate, and AT must attack the other gate.

- A gate reopens when the DF leaves the gate.

- Mark out a scoring zone in front, AT must run with the ball into the zone to score.

Tip

OBJECTIVE:

Offset a defender to beat them in the opposite direction.

COACHING POINTS:

Try to attack a goal on your first touch, quickly.

If the player decides to change directions:

  1. Do not turn into the DF (hide the ball).
  2. Accelerate to get away from the DF.
