1v1 from longer Distance

  • Age U14 - U19, Men's / Women's
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

• approx. 14 cones

Set up two attacking channels according to graphic.

Procedure

Attacking and defending players should position at their starting points.

Mark two channels, so that the attacking players can not cut into the middle before beating the defender first.

Then the players come up against each other in 1v1 situations.

The attacking player receives the ball, takes his first touch into the channel and starts the 1v1 attack.

The defender should make sure to at least step up to the edge of the penalty area to be able to defend the attacking player.

The defender should block off dribbling lanes towards the inside of the field.

It is crucial that he forces the attacking player wide (away from goal).

After winning the ball, the defender can potentially counter on cone goals.

Tip

Coaching Points:

• Defender should be up on his toes so that he can react to body feints quickly
• As soon as the attacking player takes his touch forward, the defender steps and slows him down by always keeping a 1-2 meter distance to the attacking player
