1v1 from Side Build-Up with Back to Goal

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 10-15 players, 16-22+ players

Setup

A field is marked out with cones. A goal is set up on each end of the field, with a goalkeeper in each. 10 field players are divided into two groups and positioned next to the goals as shown in the diagram. A cone is placed on each sideline to mark the halfway line, where the passer stands with the balls. The attacking player stands with his back to the goal in the field.

Procedure

The passer plays to the red player. The red player receives the ball and dribbles toward the goal. The blue player slows down in front of the attacker, positions himself offset to the side of the attacker, and offers him the side away from the goal. The attacker tries to beat the defender and get a shot on goal. The defender tries to win possession and attack the opposite goal. If the ball goes out of bounds, the next pair of players starts. Alternative: If the goalkeeper saves the ball without holding it, he can immediately launch a quick counterattack.

Tip

- Players should move on the balls of their feet. - Both players start with the passer's backswing. - The defender tries to close down the attacker as early as possible so that the attacker cannot build up speed, and if possible positions his body between himself and the attacker with the shoulder forward. - 6 cones, 2 full-size goal(s)
