A rectangle at 18-yard-box height is marked out with cones. A goal is set up on the end line, with a goalkeeper inside. 8 field players are positioned as shown in the diagram. A cone is placed in front of the rectangle where the starting players with ball position themselves.
Procedure
The blue player dribbles at top speed toward the rectangle, trying to beat the defender. The red defender tries to prevent the attacker from dribbling through the tackle zone. If the attacker successfully gets through the zone, he can finish on goal without defensive pressure.
Tip
- The attacker tries to use his sprint speed advantage. - The defender tries to close down the attacker as early as possible so that the attacker cannot build up speed, and if possible positions his body between himself and the attacker with the shoulder forward. - The defender should close off the path to the goal and push the attacker to the side. Stand offset to the side so that the attacker must take the route away from the goal. - 5 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
