Set up a cone square as shown in the diagram. Two players per team position themselves inside the field and two players per team position themselves on the outside.
Procedure
A 2 vs 2 game develops where the players inside the square have free play and may pass to their two teammates on the outside lines for wall passes. The outside players may only play with one touch. The outside players may not pressure each other. The outside player may also pass to the other outside teammate. Variation: When an outside player is played to, he switches positions with the passer.
Tip
- This game format requires an enormous amount of running and tactical understanding, characterised by constant communication and interplay between the target players and players inside the square. - The teams should be in constant motion. Players constantly try to make themselves available as passing options for their teammates. - Triangles should be formed regularly. - This game format develops short passing, playing in tight spaces, switching the point of attack, and tackling. - 4 cones
