  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players, 6 - 9 players, 10-15 players

Setup

  • 4 yellow cones to mark a 4x4 meter defensive area at the corner of the penalty area
  • 1 red cone for central marking at the edge of the penalty area
  • Several balls

Procedure

The player with the ball dribbles briefly, plays the ball deep to the outer midfielder, and overlaps at maximum speed.

The outer midfielder takes the ball with the first touch towards the center, dribbles towards the opposing defender, and plays at the right moment to the overlapping player.

This player takes the ball in full stride towards the penalty area, then either takes a shot himself or plays a low pass to the striker running in from the rear.

Tip

Coaching Points: Defensive 1 vs. 2 on the Wing:

  • Retreat backward and inward, closing off the path to the center
  • Especially retreat when the overlap occurs
  • When marking the overlapping player, close down immediately
