Five players position themselves on the field as shown in the diagram. The two blue players A and B are the defenders, the two red players are the attackers. The goalkeeper goes in goal. The ball starts with the red Player C.
Procedure
Player C starts with a pass to D. As soon as C goes into his wind-up motion, Player D is pressed by defender B. When Player B leaves his defensive position toward D, his defensive position is taken by A. Now a 2 vs. 2 begins with constantly changing running paths and game situations until the defenders win possession or the attackers get a shot on goal.
Tip
- The game format primarily serves to learn the running paths. The duels are still played at full intensity, meaning game-realistic with full physical commitment. - The exercise should be trained with as many repetitions as possible (automating movement patterns). - Precise and powerful passing/attacking play should be emphasised. - The trigger for the counter-reaction is the passer's wind-up motion. The lateral distances between players are about 7-12 m. The player pairs face each other at a distance of about 15 m. - When one of the two defenders provides cover behind the other, he should move about 5 m laterally offset behind the lead player. - 6 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
