6 players position themselves in the penalty area as shown in the diagram, and two goals are set up on the end lines with 4 cones at the corners. Two teams of 2 plus goalkeepers are formed. The red player has the ball.
Procedure
The red player has possession and tries either to pass to his teammate or goalkeeper, or to beat the defender in a dribble. The blue players try to win possession and score a goal of their own. Normal rules apply. For the defenders: If the coach instructs man-to-man marking, they must always stay tight to their opponent. If the instruction is to play zonally, they must shift, tuck in, cover, or take over depending on the situation. After one minute, a short break should follow or four new players should enter the field.
Tip
- The defenders try to close down the attacker as early as possible so that the attacker cannot build up speed, and if possible position their bodies between themselves and the attacker with the shoulder forward. - The defender should close off the path to the goal. Stand offset to the side so that the attacker must take the route away from the goal. - Due to the small field, scoring chances constantly arise along with a constant back-and-forth between attack and defence. - The attackers should constantly incorporate feints and one-twos. - 4 cones, 2 full-size goal(s)
