A field is marked out with cones. A goal is set up on each end of the field, with a goalkeeper in each. 10 field players position themselves on the field as shown in the diagram. A cone is placed on each sideline to mark the halfway line.
Procedure
Two field players stand next to each goalpost and two more in the centre of the field. Player J has his back to the goal while in possession and passes the ball to player I, who runs onto the ball at top speed and starts a dribble. Defender A pressures J. After the opening pass, the second defender B sprints from the end line toward player I and pressures him. A 2v2 situation now develops. If the defensive team wins possession, they may attack the opposite goal.
Tip
- The second attacking and defending player starts with the passer's backswing. - The attacker tries to use his sprint speed advantage. - The defenders try to close down the attacker as early as possible so that the attacker cannot build up speed, and if possible position their bodies between themselves and the attacker with the shoulder forward. - The defender tries to catch up to the attacker, close down the passing lane, or push him to the side. - The defender tries to win the duel by gaining possession. - The defender should close off the path to the goal. Stand offset to the side so that the attacker must take the route away from the goal. - 6 cones, 2 full-size goal(s)
