3 + 1 vs 2 + 2

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players

Setup

Two or more teams of 4 are formed. There is a goalkeeper in the goal. The exercise is always performed by 2 teams.

Procedure

The game starts with a "simulated ball win" by team red, where blue player I passes the ball from the corner flag to the red centre-back. The red centre-back immediately plays the ball to the free midfielder. He has three options: Either he dribbles toward goal (3b), or he plays left (3a) or right (3c) into the path of the two strikers. The red team's goal is to score. Team blue tries to prevent this. If there are more than 2 teams, team red becomes the defending team after the attack ends and the third team becomes the attacking team. Following this principle, each team has one attacking and one defending action per round.

Tip

- After the red player wins the ball, he must immediately play it to the attacking midfielder. - The attacking player has three options. He must keep the tempo high. - A striker can come short for a layoff. - Both strikers have two running options going forward: Either they cross runs or they briefly run away from goal to the side and then toward the danger zone. - The two defenders can either gamble on intercepting the pass, play offside, or drop deep, try to slow the tempo to allow the recovering players to catch up to the ball carrier. - The attacking players must be direct and finish as quickly as possible. - 2 full-size goal(s)
