3+2 vs 3

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19, Men's / Women's
  • Training Set End
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players, 10-15 players, 16-22+ players

Setup

Pitch: Mark out an area of 30 x 20 metres with cones and mark a halfway line as well as an end zone about 5 metres deep at both ends. On the short sides there are 2 mini goals each.

Equipment: Cones, 4 mini goals, bibs in three colours, balls.

Players: Two teams of 3 players each as well as 2 neutral players in a separate bib colour. The neutral players each occupy one end zone; the remaining players spread out in the playing area.

Procedure

  • The two teams play against each other in the playing area.
  • A maximum of 2 players per team may be in each half.
  • The neutral players may only play first time and may not play one-twos.
  • Goals only count after an assist from a neutral player.

Note: Drill idea by Eddie Plickat.

Tip

  • The players always have to open out their body position, communicate clearly and think ahead to the next action and the one after it.
  • The attacking team should create width and depth and above all keep moving without the ball.
  • The defending team should put the player on the ball under pressure, tighten the spaces near the ball and, after winning the ball in the opposition half, look for the quickest route to goal.
