3 Defenders vs. 5 Attackers

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point

Setup

A goalkeeper, three defenders (red), and five attackers (blue) are positioned on the cone-marked field as shown in the diagram. The attackers have the ball.nnnn

Procedure

The attackers attempt to outplay the defenders and get an attempt on goal through the usage of different means of attack such as quick passing combinations, overlapping, crossing over, through balls, dribbles and one-twos. The three defenders have to prevent this through clever tactical movement and aggressive conduct in the challenge. The offside rule applies.

Tip

- The defenders always act as a unit and must not get too far apart. - The goal is either to win possession or to force the ball carrier into a non-dangerous area to the side and block his passing lane toward goal/to teammates by double-teaming. - The task of the ball-near defender is to press the ball carrier. The other two defenders secure the space behind (defensive triangle). - 5 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
