3 versus 1 in 3 Zones

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19, Men's / Women's
  • Training Set Progression, Main point
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players, 10-15 players, 16-22+ players

Setup

  • Set up cones to divide the field into 3 equal playing areas
  • Divide into 3 teams, each with 3 players

Procedure

Players position themselves according to the diagram in the 3 designated areas. Group A tries to pass the ball to each other 5 times within the first area. One defender attempts to prevent this. After successfully completing 5 passes, the ball is passed to Group B, where defenders 2 and 3 try to intercept the pass. Group B then attempts to complete 5 passes within their area. Defender 2 aims to prevent this while player 1 moves to the middle area.

Tip

Coaching Points

• Group B: Break free from the defensive shadows of defenders 2 and 3.
• Adjust positions in the 3 versus 1 scenario to avoid being in the defender's shadow (the passer should always have 2 passing options).
• Allow each group to act as defenders at least once.
