3 vs. 3 with Wing Goals and Two Wingers + Goalkeeper
AgeU6 - U13, U14 - U19
Training SetMain point
Number of Players10-15 players, 16-22+ players
Setup
A double penalty area with two goals is set up. Cones are placed as shown in the diagram. In each half, three field players are in the central area, one player is in each wing zone, and the goalkeepers are in the goals.
Procedure
Two teams of 5 + goalkeepers are formed. From each team, three players play in the field with unlimited touches, and one player is on each wing. The defenders may not challenge the wingers in the wing zone. The wingers may not leave their zone and should deliver crosses. The goalkeeper is intensively involved in build-up play as well as in goalkeeper-specific saves.
Tip
- Both teams try to cover all aspects of field player training, with a focus on wing play. - The goalkeepers constantly organise their team. - The build-up play varies depending on the situation (throw, inside-of-the-foot kick, etc.). - Positioning is of enormous importance. - This game format frequently creates penalty area situations where the goalkeeper needs quick reactions on the line, good positioning, the right timing to intercept a cross, and a quick, precise distribution. - All key areas (1v1, crosses, shooting, distribution, etc.) of goalkeeper training are implemented in a game-realistic manner. - 12 cones, 2 full-size goal(s)
