A field is marked out with 6 cones (including the midfield line). On both sides of the field, an additional wing zone is set up with 3 cones each. A goal is placed on each end line. Two teams of 5 are formed; there is a goalkeeper in each goal.
Procedure
3 players from each team play against each other 3 vs 3 in the cone field. The objective for both teams is to score goals. Both teams have an additional wing player on each side of the field in the wing zones. The wing players may be played to by the team in possession during an attack but may not be pressured by the opposing team (including their wing players). The wing players may not leave their zone (end line to midfield line) and should support their team's attack with as many crosses or low balls into the box as possible. Variation: - The wing players are limited to 2 or 3 touches - After the ball is played into their zone, the wing players may be pressured by the opposing wing player on the same side.
Tip
- The defenders try to close down spaces and block passing lanes during the build-up. - When the wing player has the ball, each defender marks an attacker. - After winning the ball, the defender or goalkeeper immediately initiates the counterattack through the wing players. - The teams should be in constant motion. Players constantly try to make themselves available as passing options for their teammates. - Two players from the team in possession cross and move toward the near and far post, while the third player drops into the space behind. This gives the crosser various passing options. - This game format requires an enormous amount of running and tactical understanding, characterised by constant communication and a constant interplay between attack and defence. - 12 cones, 2 full-size goal(s)
